Eating A Burrito ...and other not so deep thoughts on social media.

aren't you kind of tired of hearing that social media is all about

[pause] ...wait for it. drum roll...

"joining the conversation"

[insert sounds of fingernails running across a really dry chalkboard]

yea sure, sometimes it's about that.

other times it's about talking to yourself out loud and really not caring if anyone is reading.

random mindless unscripted tweets are ok.

especially when the timeline gets a bit repetitive with six degrees of the same Hellen Keller quote making its weekly retweet rounds. yes. i get it. "It is a terrible thing to see and have no vision." very profound. the first few times. thank you.

seriously.

maybe i'm getting nostalgic for the old school tweets.

go ahead. tell us you're eating a burrito and don't let social media influencers tell you otherwise.

things aren't always what they appear to be at first glance.

I love Flickr. Don't you? You find the most interesting images sometimes when browsing around. Take for example this image of what looks like a simple black card with a circle. What exactly makes up the black card and what does the circle represent? According to the photographer himself:

Intriguing isn't it?

Is it the moon ? Is it a ring ? Is it moving ? Is it huge/small ? Is it watching?
Is it a mug or glasses filling with coffee ?

This picture is a white and black contrast of a coffee glass that I have bought at a convenient store. I have put it on the sidewalk and take the shot. I have used Picasa to add more shadow in it to emphasis the contrast and erase almost everything of the object.

It's maybe my first post-modernism picture.
The object is central to the picture perfectly integrated
but so strangely unidentifiable and so familiar by it's shape.

Yes. Intriguing indeed. His last two lines are interesting. Can be applied to a lot of things we often come across in our lives. I like how the image conjures up questions from certain people who look past the obvioius assumption that it's a simple black card with a circle. Asking questions always helps in getting someone one step closer to the truth. I hope in the case of a friend in my life right now, that proves to be true.

And this is all I have to say about that so i'll stop talking in circles now.

own your opinion or shut up.

I have a friend who swears like a sailor whenever he blogs about something he has a strong opinion on. It doesn't matter if I agree with that opinion or not -- or in this case really don't know enough about the subject matter to do so. I still admire people who have an opinion and aren't afraid to own it.

I get that we're not all wired to be vocal about our opinion. No big deal. I've got plenty of things to say sometimes where I opt to shut up instead. What annoys the crap out of me is when people are vocal in their criticism and try and debate in the comments from an anonymous standpoint. WTF. If you have an opinion, own it or shut up.
