5 Years Ago Today I Had My Last Phone Call With My Big Sister.

It took me over a year to delete her number and voice mails from my phone too. You know, there are tons of things we take for granted in our lives. A quick phone call to check and see how someone's doing sometimes comes too late to help them out of where they are. I should've called more often over the years. This is what I think about every October 27th since my sister killed herself. It's the day before she died that is especially tough for people who have lost a loved one to suicide. For me, it's a reminder that I should've called more often.

I know the feeling of not taking things for granted. I was in a similar situation with a best friend. Please keep supporting your causes to empower women, its a great thing you are doing.

all the best

Just now this moment I am checking your blog for the first time & i saw the bubble message about your sister on the front page. I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Just 30 minutes ago, I was reading about a 17 yr old student in our city, Palo Alto, who took his life last week. The 4th student in 5 months, 2 girls & 2 boys. Often time it's so hard to comprehend what other's are feeling. Like the other poster, Marcus, wrote, please continue giving support to the causes that empower other's. It's so necessary & valuable. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know. Best wishes, always. Tanya

We all should do so many things, but life so often overwhelms. Your sister knows that, and just remembers the calls you did make. But I bet she looks forward to your rememberence each year! And, just look- complete strangers also thinking of her too!

Thinking your sister would be so overwhelmed by how you write about her, remind us of her story and tell us how much she means to you - you honor her memory and her life.
